Reframing Retreat
Reframing: From 11 October 2024 to 20 October 2024. Lead by Fr Chris Schonenberger
Are you interested in mining the meaning of your experiences? Do you believe that your failures and mistakes provide a chance to transform your days? Have you discovered that one of life's many saving graces is the ability to see misfortunes as blessings in disguise?
You are invited to join for this 8 day retreat on the spiritual practice of reframing and share the adventure of mind-training. This practice offers you opportunities:
- to change and grow
- to see how every person and event you encounter is a spiritual teacher
- to become less judgmental and less cynical
- to harvest positive experiences in order to enrich your present and your future, and
- to put hope back in the centre of your days and doings.
We will use readings and practices from a wide variety of spiritual books to explore reframing as a life-affirming state-of-mind and a prompt that polishes our positive emotions and even makes good use out of dark emotions such as anger, fear, and worry.
We will see how the regular and creative practice of reframing can turn adversity into advantage, disillusionment into blessings, and stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
It takes a lot of courage and patience not be overwhelmed by the immense negativities afoot in our world today. The spiritual traditions have long offered us counter-cultural ways to see things differently. This compact, creative, and one-of-a-kind retreat hopes to provide the resources and the practices you need to develop inner strength and resiliency for the journey down the shape-shifting road that lies ahead.
A deposit of 20% of the full fee secures your booking. The balance is payable two weeks before the start.
Fr Chris Schonenberger is the founder and director of Ha-Phororo retreat centre. He is a frequent visitor to the retreat centre and one of the family. His retreats at the centre are popular and appeal to a broad range of people from many different backgrounds, faiths and spiritual practices.

Celebrate the Season Of Creation in the world Heritage site of St Lucia and Isimangaliso. We will engage with "The Letter" - Laudate Si - a message for you and the rest of the world from Pope Francis.
This is about hearing the song of the earth (and celebrating), hearing the cries of the earth and the poor (and weeping), and finding our call to action through reflection, education, listening circles and experiences of nature.
Spring Retreat
From 30 August 2024 to 2 September 2024. Lead by Pam Paton-Mills & Nonto Mhlongo
The perfect time to refresh, renew, rejuvenate... in the natural wonder of St Lucia and the isiMangaliso wetlands. Reflecting on Spring as a metaphor that teaches us many things about spiritual renewal, God's refreshing presence and abundant life, we will use writings from well known contemplatives including Joyce Rupp, Macrina Wiederkehr and Anthony de Mello.
The cost is R2400 per person for single accommodation and meals. An early bird discounted price of R2000 applies if payment is received by 8 July 2024.
