The current work is based out of Gogo Thandi's home in Dukuduku. Here we assist local children of all ages in the areas of:

• Homework help
• English input
• Life skills, incl healthy sexuality
• Creativity
• Earth awareness
• Learn through play
• Nourish body, mind and spirit

We are training up a team of young women to continue this work on a broader, more sustainable level.

In addition, as an extension of supporting promising individuals through school we have launched a teacher capacity building programme with a view to better equip and support teachers who are at the frontline of developing young people.

The Ursuline Sisters have left a rich legacy of community involvement in areas surrounding St Lucia. These include:

• Setting up vegetable gardens, cookery classes, sharing skills (sewing, crochet, weaving, plaster statues, etc.),
• Family chicken rearing;
• Sharing food, fresh vegetables, clothes, socks, blankets, sheets and pillows, cuddly toys, school uniforms, sports shoes, wheelchairs for children and adults,
• Distributing breakfasts for 5 years to 600 children at a primary school;
• School support for children and adults, individual sessions in maths and science, sports activities, netball and football, outings to the Nature Park, the beach and the croc centre, summer and winter camps, Christmas plays and Christmas carols at the Christmas market and in the church of St Lucia, catechism classes for children during Sunday mass;
• Family visits, visits to doctors, dentists and clinics, debt forgiveness, administrative procedures to obtain identity cards and family allowances, accompaniment to the police station to report rape or abuse;
• Introduction to Ignatian spirituality, training in spiritual guidance, training nursery staff with the Mtubatuba Methodist Church, introduction to physiotherapy;
• Reading and writing lessons during "covid" the school holidays, schooling for 3 young people in Manguzi, schooling for children with motor and mental disabilities;
• A vibrant and growing bee-keeping project, stimulating bio-diversity, micro enterprise and funding education.
• The construction of 3 boreholes in the village, 3 houses for families, helping Ntomba to sell its woven baskets;

This serves as an inspiration and foundation for our work in the field.
