ST LUCIA RETREAT & TRAINING CENTRE BOOKING, CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
INDEMNITY
All visitors staying at the Centre do so entirely at their own risk. The Centre is not liable for any personal injury, death, damage or loss of property sustained during their stay.
DEPOSIT
Upon receipt of a reservation form, an email request for a non-refundable deposit of 20% is sent in order to secure a place. If no deposit is received within 15 days, the provisional reservation is cancelled and the place made available to other guests.
BALANCE OF PAYMENT
The balance is due two weeks before the start date of the visit. A reminder will be sent two weeks prior to the event.
BOOKING WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF EVENT
If a booking is made within two weeks of the start of the event, the full payment is due immediately.
Cancellations and Refunds
If full payment is not received at least two weeks prior to arrival the booking may be cancelled in favor of other booking requests for the same dates, and the deposit forfeited.
We recognise that there may be unforeseen and exceptional times when retreatants will need to cancel or rearrange retreats. If a booking is made, that often means another retreatant cannot make a retreat here, and refunding and rescheduling involves administrative staff time. We are therefore not able to refund deposits. If, for any reason, we are not able to offer the retreat booked, the deposit (and balance if applicable) will be refunded in full.
- If a retreatant cancels their retreat, the deposit is non-returnable and non-transferable.
- If a cancellation is made more than two weeks before the event, the balance (if paid) will be refundable.
- If a cancellation is made less than two weeks before the event, no refund will be made. Rescheduling a retreat may be done in a time that suits the Retreat Centre.
In a case of national disaster we will follow industry standards.

The town is situated on the St Lucia Estuary, in the Isimangaliso Wetland Park. It is surrounded by natural indigenous forest with wildlife and an abundance of bird life. The forest is 100m from the retreat centre with paths going through lush, dense trees. Small antelope can often be seen here. Hippos come out to graze at night and can often be seen walking through the town. They should be treated with caution. Provided you keep a safe distance they will not be hostile.
The town of St Lucia has shops where most grocery and general supplies can be found. There is a pharmacy and a resident doctor as well as emergency medical service. A number of restaurants offer quality food and drink in a pleasant setting.
Suggested items to bring along:
- Rain wear / umbrella. It can rain most of the year round here.
- Comfortable walking shoes and something cool like sandals.
- Sunblock.
- Hat.
- Water bottle.
- Mosquito repellent.
- Binoculars (if you have) and are planning on bird or game viewing.
- Notebook and journal for reflections, sketches, ideas. Often when you quieten down ideas or insights come to you that are worth noting.
- Cool comfortable clothes. It can get hot and humid in summer. In winter and autumn you may need a jersey or jacket.
- Costume and beach towel if you plan on swimming.
- Torch. While the grounds are lit at night it helps you to see where you are walking and spotting small creatures in the trees like bushbabies.
